This walking tour will show us the progress of a city growing in 2800 years in the actual aspect which spreads over a rectangular area designed after Hippodamian plan with straight and parallel streets from North to South and from East to West called Decumanus and Cardines. During the walk we shall see buildings bearing the historic signs in their architectural aspect. Few romanesque structures reminding us the Norman Swabian Period than the French Gothic brought in by the French Angevin Dynasty to continue with the few renaissance building reminding us of the Catalan Aragones Dynasty on with the Baroque main style of the Spanish period and ending with variety of monuments in Baroque and neoclassical style by the Borbone Dynasty.
We shall see all of that in buildings such as Santa Chiara, Gesù Nuovo, Chiesa di Sant’Angelo al Nilo, San Lorenzo Maggiore with the underground excavations of the ancient Greek Agora or Roman Forum ending with the main Cathedral the Duomo.
